Shadows & Voices by Jason Ellis

Shadows & Voices (Holly Silverstone, #1)

Publication Date: March 7, 2012

Book Description: (taken from amazon)

Meet young Holly Silverstone, the girl who sees daisies turn to butterflies ... who dreams of places that she has never been to ... who is invited to study at the elusive and enchanting Highlands Academy of truth and excellence.

The voices will come, one-thousand and one, the voices will come. Fear is the key, fear to see. The voices will come, one-thousand and one, the voices will come.

As Holly took a sip of her tea and held the piece of paper between her fingers, veins of ink slowly crept across the paper. She wanted to drop it and scream … yet a more powerful part of her made the fingers on her hands grasp the letter even tighter and her eyes open wider.
The ink seeped and whirled around, forming words;

We have a question for you, Holly.
Do you want to know how the daisies turned to butterflies?

I was given this book by the author for my honest opinion.

My Opinion:

Holly is a very special girl, she has magic. Well she has magic in her and she goes to a school for people like her. This book is surrounded by Holly but around magic and how to live with it. I wish I could escape to this school. Anyways, Holly goes to this magic school and she becomes really close friends with a teacher name Ovissa Slater. Who goes missing, and Holly is devastated. Then decides to start her own investigating and start looking for her friend.  The bad part about that situation is she gets into trouble and danger! You start to think why doesn’t she just give up will she?
I loved this book! I was on the edge of my seat for half of the book, and this book had me hooked from the beginning. There was so many parts of this book, well actually the whole book where you have to give your full attention to understand it. Which you should in all the books yoread. I felt for Holly throughout this book, with everything she went through even after her teacher goes missing is amazing. This author does a great job with detail and developing characters throughout the book without giving out everything in the beginning like some books.

The Citizens by L.M Smith

The Citizens (Jazz Nemesis #1)

Book Description (taken from goodreads):

Imagine a town where you can stay out as late as you want, wake up when it suits you, you never have to go to work, and everything is free for the taking. Sounds perfect right? But what if you can’t remember where you are or how you got there? What if you can’t ever leave? And what if the only other people around are hostages, just like you? Would you still want to stay?

Jasmine Marshall certainly didn’t think so until she met Justin Beck; a dashing active-duty member of the United States Army and fellow hostage. With him around life in Kolob might not be so bad after all … or so she thought. There are vampires and psychics at the breakfast table! Disturbing acts of torture and senseless violence are commonplace. Biochemical warfare is a very real threat, and the town’s mayor is an elusive mad-scientist obsessed with his own theories about December 21, 2012!

In a place where one has everything to gain and nothing to lose, one thing reigns true: nothing in Kolob is ever as it seems.

I was given this book by the author for my honest review!

My Opinion:

Where to begin with this book? How about AMAZING! It was also creepy at the same time. This small town of Kolob there are many secrets and many weird things going on. I mean really what would you do if you woke up in this town where you had no idea how you got there or where you are? Me personally, I would be freaking out. Then there was the thing with all the cameras. Who could deal with your every move being watch? The only upside of all of this is that everything is free, but I’m not sure if I would be ok with everything else through. This book got my attention from the very beginning and kept my attention til the end. Bad part about this book was that it kept me on the edge of my seat for a lot of parts! I even had my husband laughing at me because I would sit up really fast and he would ask me what’s wrong and I would go “shhh I’m at a good part”. I’m not sure if that’s even a bad part but it certainly was funny. L.M Smith is a talented author who wrote a book with twist after twist and didn’t give anything away til the end. All the questions in your head while reading this book wont be answered til the end. Trust me through that made the book!

On another note I would love for this book be made into a movie!!

Finding Summerland by Paige Bleu

Finding Summerland
by Paige Bleu

Publication Date: July 17, 2012

Book Description (taken from amazon):

After his brothers recent disapearance Wesley Rochester wished he could just fade into obscurity. Searching for closure, he's haunted by visons. Consumed with decoding the messages, he begins turning dangerously deeper inward. Enter an intriguing, 'not quite' human stranger, who mysteriously arrives just as he feels all hope is lost. Together they begin to realize that their destinies are intricately tangled in a drama reaching far beyond the realms of the wold they know. Discovering the secrets plaguing wesley since childhood are no coincidence, and everything he believes is shattered. Captivated by her, he must decide between the life he has and the one he'd forgotten.

'Finding Summerland' is like 'Twilight' in the sense that it is a supernatural, coming of age romance—but has a genre bending, metaphysical element and a much deeper rabbit hole. Follow the journey of two star crossed souls as they explore who they are and the ties that bind them. Enter a world intentionally forgotten. A place buried by history, where only the chosen are aware of its existence. A place covenants are made and broken, where myth leads to truth and forbidden love threatens to destroy or be destroyed, becoming just another casualty in their shadow war.

The introductory novel in a series of five, called 'The Ameryn Chronicles'—but compelling enough to stand alone—'Finding Summerland' is sure to be savored by anyone craving to stretch the bounds of ordinary imagination, edgy enough to engage readers who enjoy unravelling a mystery, and sweet enough to grab onto the hearts of the romance lovers! Where legends breathe and dreams are alive. A 'trippy' journey to a new reality.

I was given this book for my honest review by the author

My Opinion:
Wesley Rochester was what you would call a stranger in his own family. His sister had won every pageant and contest that she entered and his brother was a athlete, a star athlete. To his friends his name is Wes didn’t really belong in his family. He was told that he had a learning disability, ADD but did he? All he wanted to do was stay in his room and play his guitar with no one around his to bug him. What I thought the weirdest thing about this book was his dreams. Where he was drawing and drawing but only woke up to one drawing. Everything changed for Wes of course as soon as he met a girl who was watching him. Her name is Olivia. From there on Wes’s life will never be the same.

This book was filled with so much emotion, makes you wonder if the author herself cried, laughed when was needed. I know it took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. With Wes’s family ways and how he doesn’t fit into his own family it made my heartache for him.  I find this book a paranormal romance genre and right up my alley on what I like to read. To think that I read this book within 2 days, that shows you how much I loved this book and cant wait to read more on this series. I am happy that the second book will be out soon. I also put off on finishing this book because I didn’t want to wait to see what happens and I wanted to stay in Wes’s and Olivia’s world. I think a HUGE thank you is in order to the author for writing such an amazing book! And I look forward to reading more from this author rather it’s the next book in this series or a short story I don’t care.

Runaway Heart by Claudy Conn

Runaway Heart
by Claudy Conn

 September 24, 2012

Book Description: (taken from goodreads)

Spirited Chelsea decided she’d sooner run away to London than return to her vain and selfish guardian, Aunt Augusta.
But in her wildest dreams, she never imagined her dear godmother would arrange a Season—or convince the ton’s most eligible bachelor to take her under his wing.

Lord Wainwright was a handsome rogue who was not interested in coy games and missish airs. He expected a country mouse with no polish, but instead he found a thoroughly engaging minx, and was oddly irritated by all the male attention she received.

Chelsea with her unspoiled eye saw beyond Wainwright’s pursuit of hedonism to the intriguing man underneath. But to her shock, it appeared his heart belonged to her horrid Aunt Augusta!

Adult-content rating: This book contains content considered unsuitable for young readers 17 and under, and which may be offensive to some readers of all ages.

My Opinion:

I wasn't sure if I would like this book, not because of the author or any other reasons but one its a romance book. I don't read romance books unless its a paranormal romance genre. I find romance books are boring and have no point to them well I think this book has changed my mind. Who knew this short story book would change my mind about romance! Anyways, back to the what the book was about. I first started out feeling bad for Chelsea and the life she was living by being by herself. No parents and what I call a pain in the butt aunt who doesn't care about her. Then Lord Wainwright comes into the picture. Even through you can't really see him because after all it's a book but you can tell he is sexy! Lord Wainwright is a ladies man who I think doesn't know how to love but after hanging out with Chelsea he is memorized by her.
Given some parts of this book you could see coming but the way Claudy had wrote those parts in was better then what I had imagine in my mind. I'm glad I was given the chance to read this book and that it was free for me to get it! The romance between Chelsea and Lord Wainwright is dreamy and charming. Also, how the author's writing was in descriptive and not run on was amazing. I will be reading more of her work for sure! And maybe I see some more romance books in my life.

The Moon Sealers book 2 by Tim Flanagan

The Moon Stealers and the Queen of the Underworld (The Moon Stealers #2)

After finding the magical Silver Bough in the first Moon Stealer book, the portal to the underworld opens enabling Sir Edgar and the children; Max, Joe and Scarlet to jump through. They find themselves in a world at war and quickly become involved in an uprising against the Faerie Queen.

Their quest to find Peter Crisp continues, but the threat of the alien bacteria back home looms over them. Sir Edgar's attempt at gaining the Faerie Queens help in ridding the Moon Stealers from Earth looks like it may be a fruitless task.

In such an unchartered land it's difficult knowing who is friend and who is foe. Danger lurks in the most innocent of places.

I was given this book by the author for my honest review

My Review:
No words can describe how excited I was to read this book especially how after the first one ended. When I had gotten the email from the author saying he would like me to review this I was jumping up and down and rushed through the book I was reading at just to get to this book! Crazy Edgar,Max, Joe and Scarlet have no idea what they are getting into when trying to help the Faerie home from the evil queen. The adventures or fights they get into had me on the edge of my seat for most of the book! I couldn't put it down at all til I had it finished, which took me 2 days. I'm not sure if that part will upset the author or make him proud that his writing is amazing! The bad part (yes there is a bad part) is that this book in this series ended in another cliffhanger! UGH! Tim Flanagan how can you do this to me again! Not to mention I have to wait til book 3 comes out, trust me I will be bugging you and stalking your facebook page to see how far along you are and when this book is coming out! I hope this series never ends and that all the adventures everyone goes through never stops. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good read and a adventures that add in paranormal side.
